Why I'm Running For Council

I am running for Council because I believe we can protect everything we love about West Vancouver while making thoughtful changes that allow our community to thrive for generations to come. We need a Council that listens, thinks long-term and makes decisions based on what is best for West Vancouver, not simply what is easiest today.

My priorities are:

Keeping West Vancouver a Place for Families

West Vancouver should not become a place where seniors who have spent years living in and contributing to the community and young families find themselves needing to leave because they can no longer afford to live here. We need to look at thoughtful, appropriate housing options that give younger families, downsizing seniors and people who work in our community more opportunities to stay in West Vancouver.

That doesn't mean development without limits or planning. It means smart development that fits our neighbourhoods, respects our character and responds to the needs of our community. I want to see a West Vancouver where seniors and their contributions are respected and supported as well as where our children and grandchildren have a realistic opportunity to build their lives here.

Bringing More Life to Our Waterfront

Our waterfront is one of West Vancouver's greatest assets but we can do much more with it. Ambleside, Dundarave and Horseshoe Bay should be places where people want to spend time, meet friends, bring their families and discover something new.

I want to see more animation, activity and interesting businesses along our waterfront, while maintaining the character that makes these communities unique.

Businesses like Batch show what is possible. Thoughtful. Welcoming. Local. Family-friendly. Batch is exactly the kind of addition that can bring people to the waterfront, create energy and complement, rather than compete with, the businesses already here.

We should be looking for more opportunities like this. Let's make our waterfront destinations, not just places we walk through.

Curating Great Local Businesses

A vibrant community needs more than buildings. It needs interesting places to go. I want to see West Vancouver take a more intentional approach to attracting and supporting businesses that add something to our community - independent shops, restaurants, cafés, experiences and family-friendly destinations.

We should be asking: What do we want our villages to feel like? Then we should work with businesses, property owners and the community to make that vision happen. Our commercial areas should be places where people can spend an afternoon, not simply run an errand.

Getting the Basics Right

Before we take on new initiatives, we need to make sure the fundamentals are working.

That means:

• Better parking solutions that support local businesses and residents

• Well-maintained roads, sidewalks and public spaces

• Reliable municipal services

• Thoughtful traffic management

• Clean, safe and welcoming commercial areas

• Better communication between the District and the people who live and work here

Good municipal government starts with listening, working collaboratively and delivering.

Protecting Our Character While Planning for the Future

West Vancouver is special because of its setting, its neighbourhoods and its character. Development should never be about development for development's sake.

I support thoughtful, well-designed development that considers traffic, infrastructure, views, neighbourhood character, attainability and the overall community benefit. We can grow without losing what makes West Vancouver West Vancouver.

The answer is not to stop everything. The answer is to plan better.

A Council that Listens

After being blessed with having lived here my entire life and owning a business for years, I understand that decisions made at Municipal Hall have real consequences for families, homeowners, renters and businesses.

I want to bring a practical, community-minded voice to Council. I will listen to residents. I will listen to businesses. I will listen to younger families. I will listen to our seniors. And I will make decisions based on what I believe will leave West Vancouver stronger, more supportive, vibrant and more attainable for the next generation.
